Eminent Chinese and Artifacts of the Republic of China 民國

Through the years, I have curated many exhibitions on the history and culture of modern China, for I deeply feel that history has been unjustly smeared. To recount, in the 102nd year of the Republic of China (2013), I curated the exhibition “Mountains Ablaze-the Odyssey to Save China 1839-1946” at the National Museum of History in Taipei, presenting a few hundred exhibits. In the 104th year of the Republic (2015), I curated the exhibition “Mountains Ablaze - the Republic and the Sino-Japanese War, 1912-1946” at University Museum and Art Gallery, the University of Hong Kong, presenting nearly two hundred exhibits. In the 106th year of the Republic (2017), I curated the exhibition “Deliverance and Martyrdom” at Ye Classical Art Gallery in Taipei, presenting nearly one hundred exhibits. In the 107th year of the Republic (2018), I curated the exhibition “Reversal of Destiny-May Fourth Movement Close to the 100th Anniversary” at Ping Art Space in Taipei, presenting nearly sixty exhibits. In the 108th year of the Republic (2019), I curated the exhibition “The Decimation and Revival of Chinese Culture, a Preliminary Assembly of Eminent Personages between 1949 and 1976” at the Art Centre of National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, presenting nearly two hundred exhibits. Each exhibition was graced by loans of artifacts and writings from friends, assembling a remarkable vista. I have long pondered on the possibility of gathering all the exhibits from these exhibitions, not accounting the repetitive exhibits, and displaying them together in a single museum. One can certainly see evidences of greatness in modern Chinese history and the epic accomplishments of modern Chinese culture. Will this not touch the heart deeply? And will this not illuminate the glory of the Republic of China incessantly? Only this museum has yet to be located, now for substitute, a virtual room is procured to satisfy my simple aspiration. This room is thus named: Eminent Chinese and Artefacts of the Republic of China.
